Here’s another example of my portrait work this time. This time it was acrylic and spray paint. Super fun piece and I got a lot of advice from some talented co-workers, Frank Sanchez and Rember Orellana.

Let The Day Decide

This was a free for all with jam with Brian, pretty much just trying out a bunch of colors that we hadn’t used before. I ended up painting a caricature of myself while Brian killed it on the background, Which i think is one of the key elements in this piece.

Spartan for Jerome’s Gym

This was done by Brian Hampton and myself for my brother’s gym. We will be adding to more Spartans on some of the other walls. This was all spray paint.

Tupac

One day i get the bright idea to break some cans and jam out with my buddy Brian Hampton. Several things occurred that day, we worked on several projects and midway through the day i got the bright idea that was I was gonna attempt to spray paint a portrait of Tupac. So after about 5 hours this what we came up with. It’s  a 4×5 mammoth size canvas that made it a little easier to achieve. After this we definitely figured a better approach to how these should be done.

Jimi’s Riff

This was the first portrait that I ever did, it took way long to do but I learned a lot. It definitely inspired me to more.

This was a fun piece until, I go to varnish it and this is something i hadn’t done before. I get my water to varnish ratios perfect and do exactly what the instructions say except let the painting dry for at least a week. Good thing i took a picture before i made this mistake. It didn’t ruin the painting just made it a little hazy, apparently white dries slower. Long story short I now use spray varnish on dry paintings just to make sure.
